How does medical tourism to China work for international patients?

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Where do I start?

Begin with your medical records rather than booking travel. A coordinator can organize the diagnosis, imaging, pathology, treatment history and questions you want a specialist to review. Any potential appointment or provider arrangement must be confirmed before travel planning proceeds.

What happens before travel?

Records may need medical translation and organization into a clear timeline. The reviewing department or specialist determines whether the information is sufficient and what consultation options are available. Entry rules, travel dates, accommodation and interpretation should be checked and planned independently with confirmation from the relevant providers.

What support is available in China?

Coordination may include appointment preparation, registration assistance, interpretation arrangements and organizing follow-up questions. Clinical decisions belong to the licensed professionals caring for you. In Boao Lecheng, Hainan, we work with local partners; our partner hospital there is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Network members are independently owned; Star Matrix Health is not affiliated with Mayo Clinic.

What happens after I return home?

Keep copies of reports, imaging and prescriptions, with translations where available, and share them with your Canadian care team. Follow-up communication can be coordinated when available.

Who coordinates this?

STAR MATRIX Health is a private international health office in Toronto. We coordinate; we do not provide medical treatment, and clinical decisions remain with licensed medical professionals. Contact concierge@starmatrixhealth.com.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to travel before a specialist reviews my records?

Where a provider offers a remote preliminary review, you can ask whether your file can be assessed before travel. The provider determines what review is available.

Does Star Matrix Health provide medical advice?

No. We coordinate records, communication and logistics. Diagnosis and treatment decisions are made by licensed healthcare professionals.
