How can I get a second opinion from a specialist in China?
Last updated: October 27, 2026
What records are useful?
A useful file may include your diagnosis and how it was reached, imaging files as well as reports, pathology results, laboratory work, treatments already tried, medications and your specific questions. The receiving specialist determines what additional records are needed.
Why does translation matter?
A clear translation and timeline can make records easier to review. Organizing key findings and questions may help the specialist understand what you want addressed. Translation does not replace clinical interpretation by a licensed professional.
Who reviews the case?
The receiving provider decides which specialist or department reviews the file and whether a remote or in-person review is available. You should confirm the identity and credentials of the clinician directly with the provider.
What can I do with the opinion?
You may discuss it with your existing medical team as an additional view. It does not replace care from your Canadian physicians, and there is no obligation to travel. Star Matrix Health coordinates only and takes no hospital commissions.
Frequently asked questions
Can a second opinion replace my Canadian doctor?
No. It is an additional specialist view to discuss with the professionals responsible for your care.
Do I have to travel to China?
Not always. Whether a remote review is available depends on the provider and the case.
